Tell Me…Are You a Holiday Relaxer or Doer?

Posted May 28th, 2017 in My Features, Tell Me / 18 comments

I’m sitting here doing absolutely nothing on a Sunday, thinking about Memorial Day and how I will pretty much do nothing that day as well (except read, of course) and it got me thinking. What about you all? Are you the type to relax and be lazy during holidays and weekends or are you active and always have something planned?

I go through phases. For the past year I was going to the movies, dinner, and other fun activities with friends almost every weekend. But that’s slowed down a bit and now I’m in my mellow mode. Some if it has to do with lives getting busier and it getting harder to meet with friends but some of it has to do with I’m just tired. I think my mind and body goes through phases were I want to be doing something all the time and then the thought of going outside makes me wants to hiss like a vampire in the sun (I have done this in public many times, scared people, laughs were had).

So right now I’m a relaxer. The thought of having a busy weekend then going to work for 5 days after little rest makes me wants to vomit. I think I need down time right now. (Plus, I’m just getting old. Age plays a part.)

Anyways, so yeah, are you a Relaxer or Doer? (I don’t even know if these are real words but they damn well are today.)

Side note: I want to start asking you all questions. I reveal so much about me but I want to know more about you. So from time to time expect a Tell Me post where it’s more about you than me. Okay, it’s a little about me because that would be boring if I just posted a question and that was it. But still…please share in the comments!

It depends as well. If I’m really tired or if it’s raining, I relax at home but if it’s sunny I like to go to long walk around.

guess you can said i’m a frustrated relaxer^^. i wish i could relax on each holidays have time for me, reading, napping etc but since i had to take over my mother shop i can only clean or put order in the house after shop hours so sadly it means holidays as well hopefully i will soon find teh rythm to have time for me as well because being stuck inside all the time it’s getting frustrating

Oh wow, yeah, that would take a lot of time away from relaxing. I hope you find the rhythm soon.

I do absolutely nothing lol. Sometimes it’s kind of boring.

If I’m actually going away on holiday somewhere (particularly when with my parents) I often do stuff. But if it’s a day off and I’m just at home then I basically sit around and do nothing. Maybe I’ll spend a little longer at the gym or going for a walk, but that’s about it.

It’s fun, huh? Doing nothing! It’s so freeing to not feel the pressure of entertaining or getting shit done. lol

Love that gif! When I was younger, and worked five days a week, I always had plans for the holiday weekends and was pretty busy on regular ones also. Now though, I only work three days a week so I don’t go out of my way to plan things for the holidays or for other weekends. I usually hike on the weekend with a friend who is still working full-time but otherwise, I save all my errands for Monday and Friday when the stores are quiet.

Ugh, so lucky. I want to be able to do that. To have a weekday off to get crap done would be nice.

I do school work any day it will work on. Weekends, most holidays, etc. Not long necessarily, but as often as I can., health permitting. I also read and write for fun.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

Yeah, you have to get the school work in anytime you can.

I’m a bit of both. I like having plans and getting out and doing things, but I also like days where I can just hang out and read. I had things going on this past Saturday, but Sunday I was home all day, and Monday I went to the waterpark so still pretty relaxing.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

Oooh, waterparks are so fun. I need at least one day a week off to do nothing.

This weekend we stayed in and just sort of bummed around the house. It all kind of depends on our mood though. We went out to the zoo and out for lunch yesterday thinking it would be low-key with everyone back to work… WRONG. The zoo was packed. There were kids everywhere. We didn’t end up staying long and wound up going home and getting back in our PJ’s. LoL

Ugh, big crowds are not my fav. That still sounds fun though.

I’m definitely a relaxer – unless on vacation in which case I go, go , go. I am trying to make sure to get out and do something even if just sitting at the park for a few hours each weekend just to get out a bit. I think I am a bit depressed so I sit at home and then get more depressed. Also coordinating with a husband who doesn’t like to plan ahead but wants to do everything with me so I can never make any plans makes life hard :-/

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

I can go at the drop of a hat or plan ahead so it’s easy for me. But I totally get the depression thing. I am the same way sometimes.

I usually have a lot of things I intend to do, but whether or not I actually get around to doing them really depends. So I can be a bit of relaxing and a bit of a doer as well 😛

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

Oh the things I have planned that I never do. lol So much!
