Seriously, Ice Massacre sounds awesome! Let’s kill some mermaids! I am obsessed with learning about cults so I am excited to see what Burn Down the Night‘s cult has to offer.

What books did you get this week? Have you read any of the ones I got?

My Week

So this wasn’t too bad of a week. Waiting to hear some news. It’s taking forever, but no news is good news. I got a physical at the doctors and all looks well which is nice to hear. Just low on vitamin D. I always feel like I have so much crap wrong with me so it’s nice to know I am just paranoid. 🙂 Oh, and I guess I am allergic to cats and dogs. I am not getting rid of Castiel, obviously, but I am trying to figure out what I can do to lessen my symptoms while having a cat. Kinda sucks. I just watched Gods of Egypt last night. It was decent. I was thinking of renting My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 on On Demand. Has anybody seen it? Was it good? I am obsessed with The Real Housewives franchise. So many are on right now. Any of you watch the shows? New York is my fav.

So is Gods of Egypt worth watching? 😛 I have it ready to watch but haven’t decided if I will yet. I like the idea but for some reason I’m expecting it to be mediocre.

I was sooo close to watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 the other day and then I didn’t lol.

It’s very cheesy but the fantasy part was fun. I liked My Big Fat Greek Wedding, though also cheesy, lol.

I am not watching the House Wives reality shows. So, Gods of Egypt is a good movie? Maybe I will consider it sometime. I got The Dark Frigate by Charles Boardman Hawes. It is a pirate read. I seem to be a little attracted to historical fiction/fantasy at the moment. I also got Seduction A black door novel, so I have been a bad bird 🙂
So, your obsessed with cults…have you tired a book with a different religion, like the Goddess worship of Nyx in House of Night? (Though I wouldn’t call this faith a cult myself).

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

Ooh, I still need to read House of Night. I will for sure.

      • Nathan

        The first book is “Marked”.
I have read the first three books. They are so very different from anything else I have read, I will be sorry to finish the series. But that is still a ways off…

Ice Massacre sounds SO good. I cannot wait to read your review on it.
As for being allergic to your pets. I hear ya. I found out I was allergic to my cat and dog. I stopped letting them sleep with me at night and kept them out of my room since I had problems breathing and it was worse at night. I also got allergy shots and over a year and half I no longer registered as allergic to my cats… unfortunately, I’m still allergic to my dog but at least with him I can bathe regularly.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

I heard the allergy shots you have to get every week for months. Is that true?

      • Kristin (Book Sniffers Anonymous)

It depends on the severity of your allergies. But yes, you go in once a week for a shot in the back flabby spot on your arm which is not as bad as when you get vaccines. Trust me, I’m afraid of needles and am a huge baby about it all. Anyway, I went once a week and they slowly build up the allergen solution each week as long as you don’t have any reaction to it and then you get to a point where they ween you off. I wound up moving about 6 mnths into my treatment and when I went to the allergist out here to get back onto the program he retested me and I was no longer allergic to my cats… just my dog. LoL

How bad does your allergies get? Neti pot?
I love Real Housewives, Bethany annoyed the shit outta me though so I didn’t continue watching NY. I got hooked on Southern Charm instead, lol.
    Have a good week!

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

I have a Neti pot. It’s awesome. But my allergies always suck no matter what. Itchy eyes, stuffy nose, runny nose, red itchy skin.

  5. Kristin @ Addicted to HEA

I’m allergic to cats but when I had one, I got kind of “used” to her, or built up an immunity to her or something. Now, I tear up immediately near one. My hubs is always allergic to cats and dogs. He takes zyrtec and singulair to combat it. The Singulair really helps if you have trouble breathing 🙂

So, wait!!! Are they FREEZING mermaids?!?! EEEK!!! That’s just wrong! Sounds awesome, too o.O Great books, both!

Well, here’s to a great physical and I hope you get great news!!!

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

I haven’t try singulair so I will for sure now. Zyrtec didn’t help much.

Killing mermaids and cults … that’s sounds like some good reading. lol. I don’t watch the Housewives regularly, but every time I do there’s arguing and it gives me a headache. 😀 Glad you’re healthy!

  7. Olivia Roach

I’m glad you’re okay! And it kind of stinks to be allergic to cats and dogs even though you love Castiel so much! I hope you do find a method of lessening those symptoms of yours.

  8. chucklesthescot

The experts used to say that the best way to overcome a cat allergy is to own a cat and the symptoms will gradually fade. Sounds a bit bonkers but who knows!

  9. Bee @ Quite the Novel Idea

I didn’t like Gods of Egypt very much. The effects were kinda cool and it looked good, but the rest was less than good for me. I was quite bored through most of it. xD My boyfriend really enjoyed My Big Fat Greek WEdding 2. 🙂

I think most of us are low on Vitamin D…I always try to remember to take an extra supplement in the mornings(that translates to I take it about 2x a month LOL) Sorry to hear about the allergies…but I know tolerance can be built up. Both my sisters were horribly allergic as children…they were blowing their noses 24/7 but we always had pets and they developed a tolerance and both work with animals as adults.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

Well that’s nice to hear I can build a tolerance. At first I thought you said your sisters were allergic to children. lol

I started with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills but the cast keep changing so much I’m not sure I want to continue with that one. I was Vanderpump Rules though and love that one. Every now and then I catch an episode of Real Housewives of Orange County. I really should be watching the new Dallas one since that’s so close to home, but I just haven’t yet.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

OMG, the Dallas one is great. They do change the girls in all of them quite often.
