Battered, barefoot, and huddled under a bookstore awning in the pouring rain, Blue only knows one thing. After fifteen months of captivity, finally… she is free.

Self-made millionaires JD and Ark are not out to save anyone when they stumble upon a wet and shivering girl one early Sunday morning. But when you sell sex for a living and salvation rings your bell… you answer the call.

After years of searching, love lifts the veil of darkness, and three people—with three very big secrets—find themselves bound together in a relationship that defies the odds.

Or does it?

Love. Lust. Sex.

This trinity might be perfection… but not everything should come in 3’s.

WARNING: This is a STANDALONE non-traditional M/F/M ROMANCE with a non-traditional ending.

I've been a bad bird. This book may be unsuitable for people under 17 years old due to its use of sexual content, substance use, and/or violence. Come be a bad bird with me!

At A Glance

A love/hate relationship with this one.

The Good

A lot of people are going to hate Three, Two, One. Just being honest. JD and Ark are often unlikable because of their actions. But I know JA Huss’s work and she has a rough edge to her stories so I was prepared. Therefor, I loved this book. It’s totally messed up but hey, not all stories can be happy happy, joy joy.

Blue was all shades of effed up because of her experience in captivity. I thought her story would be an open and shut case but, damn, the shit that went down was complex. I was shocked as she revealed her story. I love how she slowly fell for JD and Ark despite her past. She needed their strength and dominance. She wasn’t ready to face the world, and that’s okay sometimes. She needed to regroup and think about what she really wanted.

JD is the kind of guy that can make a girl do anything with his smile. He’s adorable, charming, and forward. But he is also damaged because of what happened to his past love. He’s a hard one to read when it comes to his true self, that’s for sure, but he seems to be the most infatuated with Blue. Ark is all dark and hard edges. He’s resistant to be a part of this potential threesome. He has his reasons but he never reveals them until the very end. But I never doubted he had Blue’s best interest in mind. All three together, they were fire.

This book shocked me to no end. Every reveal left my jaw on the floor, my gut feeling sucker punched, and my heart ripped to shreds. It was awesome!! This is a gritty, dark, erotic story that will leave you a little messed up but happy too. You have never read a book like this, that’s for sure. J.A. Huss is brilliant.

The Bad

Sometimes JD and Ark did piss me off to the point of fury. Spoiler: These a-holes totally paid Blue money to have sex with them the first night they found her bruised and scared on the streets. Obviously, she was sexually assaulted in some way, so that was such a dick move on their parts, it’s almost unspeakable. Blue did consent, but we find out in the middle of the sex that she is on drugs, so she couldn’t have given real consent. I can forgive a lot of things in fiction, but not this. This took one whole star off and it took me time to get over. Though I would like to mention that Blue never regretted her decision and she did want to be with them.

The Snuggly

I love m/m/f romances. This one was freaking hot in everyway. We experience some BDSM, fantasy play, rough sex (sometimes very rough), sex tapes, and even some m/m action. So delicious and a little messed up, which made it feel so naughty.

Final Thoughts

I loved this fucked up story. It hurt me but it also made me smile. It’s not conventional by any means. You have to be looking for a very dark story to like this one. But I still really recommend it.

“I am north and he is south. We are equal and opposites in almost every way imaginable. We are this and that. Black and white. Rough and calm.”

She is not one lost girl. We are not two best friends. We are one trinity of perfection.”

“Everybody is running from some demon or another. Everybody needs a second chance. If there’s a person out there who has not fucked up royally and needed a second chance… well, that person hasn’t lived yet.”

This review makes me think of when I read her Social media, I kept reading, hated a few parts, wanted to throw the kindle, but kept reading. I could see the author wanted to take us somewhere precise and I enjoyed the way even if I hated some steps. Huss knows how to write, right ? Great review !

I know! She really does know how to write a effed up story that you can’t put down.

I actually like the messed up stories sometimes, they feel more real and raw than the happy go lucky ones. As long as the endings are still my HEA (and even if they aren’t but are done right), I am a happy girl.

    Wonderful review!

I probably would’ve taken a star off for that one too, but I’m glad you liked everything else about it. It’s not my kind of read, but I love Huss. Excellent review!

    • Jennifer Bielman

Yeah, this one is not for you, but definitely look into Huss if you ever turn to the dark side!!! 🙂

Oh, hello! I think I may need to read this. I don’t like that spoiler at all, but now that I know, I am prepared and maybe won’t get too pissed. Because it is already doing so. But I love fucked up. Is Blue dominate in the threesome?

    • Jennifer Bielman

No, Ark is dominate in the threesome. Blue is very subservient. It works. You would love this book!

hummm I haven’t read any of her books yet, working on trying, but I am not sure all together that this one is for me.

Sex. Drugs. And rocky relationships. I’m already irritated yet intrigued at the same time. I was wondering about this, tempted to read it. But I can feel the angst rolling off this review alone and I don’t think I can handle it. I’m PMS-ing as it is, I can’t deal with more at this point. LOL

    Great review!

LOL, yeah, this is a read for when you are feeling it. If you don’t feel like it, you are going to hate it.

I’ve seen a a couple of positive reviews around of this – I haven’t read a dark read in like two months, so I might look into this one, great review 🙂
