A Look Back Review

When I read Pleasure Unbound a couple years back, I was a little conflicted. I was so fascinated with the world Ione created. I honestly didn’t know if I should be rooting for the humans or the demons. They both had good and bad qualities. There were definitely a lot of creatures in this book that seemed bad but ended up being pretty decent. I also liked the main characters but I didn’t fall in love with them. Tayla is kickass but she could have made better decisions. Eidolon is a yummy doctor, but just felt…normal. Nothing special. Together, I liked them a little more. They had passion, lots of passion. Now, yes, there is a lot of sex. You see the name Ione on a book, expect a lot of sex. Maybe even a little too much, but hey, it’s cool. It kind of fit with the book in the end.

I loved a lot of the side characters. We get to see them throughout the series as new couples find each other in each book. This is definitely a dark read, so don’t expect any sunshine and rainbows. Expect grit, blood, and sex. The plot was good, as was the writing. The action was nicely done. My only big problem was that the beginning was slow. It took me awhile to get into this book. But, in the end, I enjoyed it and have read much of the series since.

I read this one and liked it, but for some reason never continued with the series. I think it’s because I got burned out on PNR and took a break from it-that was two years ago and I still haven’t gotten back into it yet oops!

I don’t know when I’ll get around to reading this (I’m like a broken record for saying that all the fucking time!)… I started her LoD and now currently reading Chained by Night. I love her writing and I know LoD is a spin-off of this. Love the world… someday…

I agree with you about the beginning of this one. Eventually, I became more connected with the characters and the world and the action revved up. I really enjoy this series 😀

This was my first Larissa Ione book, and I really enjoyed it. I did however listen to it instead of reading which can sometimes make a huge difference. I finally got around to finishing this series a couple of months ago, and I’m hoping to start her Lord of Deliverance novels soon-ish.
