Armed with her besties, an embarrassing number of shots, and her list of 10 Wild Things To Do Before Adulthood, recent grad Cameron Lawson is partying it up before she starts her dream job at New York's biggest ad agency. Her last task? Hook up with a random guy. And while it's so not her style, the super-sexy guy sitting next to her is definitely game. No names. No details.
At least, that was the plan.

On her first day of work, Cameron discovers her hook-up is none other than Aidan Truitt—her new boss's boss. Talk about failing the “no fraternizing with coworkers” policy on an epic level. Especially when Aidan makes it clear their one night was only the beginning. Falling for him could cost her everything, but sometimes the only way to get what you want is by breaking a few rules...

At A Glance

A good but average new adult read.

The Good

I didn’t want to put No Kissing Allowed down. Something about it just drew me. I think it’s because I really got into the characters. Cameron had an inspiring passion for her job in advertising. I felt her tenacity and drive to succeed with every page. Aidan was her perfect counterpart. He shared Cameron’s passion and he encouraged her to always do better, to always strive for perfection. I would love a boss like that. They worked well together and it was inevitable that their love for advertising turned into a love for each other.

Their struggles with trying to keep their relationship a secret made me freaking nervous. I am so not adventurous in that way. I am such a straight shooter, so secrets that can pretty much ruin your career freak me out!! I loved how they start out as casual but Cameron starts to develop feelings. It’s only natural. Aidan fights his feeling because of his past, but these two are prefect for each other.

Cameron was a great narrator. Melissa really brought her characters to life with her writing. The characters are what kept me reading.

The Bad

Usually I don’t mind the similarities that a lot of new adult romances have, but this time the predictability of No Kissing Allowed annoyed me. I knew exactly how it was going to end, so I felt like I was just reading it to read it, not to love it.

The Snuggly

The chemistry between Cameron and Aidan is undeniable. They were on fire together and the sex was hot but not super detailed. It worked.

Final Thoughts

This may be similar to other stories out there, but I still really enjoyed it. I just wish there was something a little more unique thrown in there, but in the end I would still recommend it.

Quotes

My gaze locked on his, my heartbeat erratic for reasons that had nothing to do with exercise. “I’m sorry for how I acted the day after we were together,” I said, my voice low. “For kicking you out and saying you were a twenty-eightyear-old without a job. That wasn’t fair.”

The corners of his mouth twitched. “You didn’t say I was a twenty-eight-year-old without a job.”

“Oh. I must have just thought it.”

Sometimes it’s a bit difficult with NA for that but the story sounds good and the heroine even better. thanks for the review!

I’ve been curious about this one. Seems like an interesting read. I agree though, not a lot of New Adult stories have something fresh to them but I feel like everything’s already been done so it’s hard to really be unique. Glad you still liked the story for the most part. Good review.

I love those books and characters that can suck you right in, even when they aren’t perfect by any means. Glad this was one of those reads for you. Someone else the other day pretty much said the same thing you did, that this was just fun and really it was because of the characters. Makes me want to try it too.

🙂 the characters are really great. I think you would love this one.

I liked this one too and I did really like the romance, and Cameron, but she also bugged me at the same time. I loved her driven, like you said but, I also thought her no filter mouth thing led to her being really inappropriately disrespectful at work sometimes. That really bugged me. And then also her constant need to try and change things with Aiden to mold him into what she wanted when he flat out told her he didn’t want that. That is a pet peeve of mine. But I still did enjoy this book and I am glad you did too!

I agree, her trying to change Aiden to fit what she wants was annoying, but I also got it. They were going in opposite directions, you have to do what’s best for you.

I’ve read a couple books with this setup and really liked them, so I’m definitely into reading this. lol – You get so nervous about the secret romance. But it’s so much fun!

Books like this always seem to have the same theme going. Still, I love to read and get lost in the story. It’s very hard not to like them.

I kind of like those kinds of books when I don’t want to think for a few hours.

I’m not the kind of person that would enjoy hiding either. It would’ve driven me crazy. Glad this one worked out even if it was predictable.
