Virginity.
Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible– a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if that weren’t embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She’d left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.
At A Glance
A little cheesy, a little drama, and a whole lot of hilarious. Losing It is the kind of read that leaves an idiot grin on your face. 🙂
The Good
Don’t let the cover fool you. This is not a hot, sexy read. This is a light, cute, and flirty read. Maybe it’s not for everyone, but that’s okay. It’s just so…fun! The dialogue was adorable and hilarious. The writing flowed well and the pacing kept my interest going. And each character has a unique personality that drew me in.
Bliss was a little klutzy and silly in the beginning. She had me cracking up with her antics and oh-so-embarrassing moments. I would have freaked out too if I found out the guy I was going to lose my virginity to ended up being my college professor. Can anyone say AWKWARD! But Bliss becomes a normal college girl as the story goes on. She parties with her friends and pines after her hot British professor she can’t have. Bliss had a great personality and sense of humor which made me like her right away.
Garrick was smart, sexy, and adorable. I swear, I could easily imagine his British accent melting the panties off the girls. Lol. No wonder Bliss gets so flabbergasted around him, I would too. I loved his confidence in the beginning and conflicting feelings throughout. There was a lot of yo-yoing between Garrick and Bliss because them being together is against the rules but they just can’t seem to stay away from each other.
Holy Sexual Tension, Batman! The things Garrick and Bliss do to each other just with their eyes, *shivers*. These two characters make this book feel so fun and fresh right from the beginning. The little drama bits kept the book exciting and the ending was so sweet. I really loved how it all came together.
The Bad
You can’t read this book without rolling your eyes at some of the cheese and silliness going on but it’s all in good fun.
And, maybe, the plot was a little too simple for my taste. I like a little more complexity.
The Snuggly
Despite the title, the sex is pretty low key. Definitely descriptive enough for the New Adult age group but not extremely steamy by any means. There’s just enough sexiness to make you look around to make sure no one notices you getting a little red in the cheeks. 😀 I really liked Bliss and Garrick together. They have a rough start but they really grow together as the book progresses.
Final Thoughts
If you are looking for a fun, light read, Losing It is perfect. The characters are interesting and the dialogue will make you giggle half the time. I am so reading the next book in the series. Very recommended.
“Sex.
I was going to have sex.
With a boy.
A hot boy.
A hot BRITISH boy.
Or maybe I was going to throw up.
What if I threw up on the hot British boy?
What if I threw up on the hot British boy DURING SEX?”
“Are you waiting for an invitation?” I asked, eyeing him standing carefully outside my door. “Is this the part where you tell me you’re a vampire?” He chuckled. “No, I promise the paleness is only because I’m British.”
“Some relationships just end. Like a star, they burn bright and brilliant, and then nothing in particular goes wrong, they just reach their end. They burn out.”

Great review! I’ve had this book since right after it came out but haven’t read it. After your review it’s found its way to the top of my tbr pile!

I know, me too. I finally read it like a month ago but it took me some time to write the review. It was worth the read.

I like being left with an idiot grin, so I need to give this one a go.

I liked this one too, the sequel was even better though 🙂

EEEE, So excite to read it.
Synchronized Reading
I think I probably need a bit of cheesiness in my bookish life lol All the books I’ve been reading lately have been so serious and about ‘surviving’. lol I need some entertainment and I’ve been really curious about this one 🙂 Great review!

I know what you mean. You need to good old fun book sometimes to cut down on the seriousness.

Looks like a cute read. I think that first quote really summed up everything you said about the story. Looks good! Thank you for sharing. Great review 😀 Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.

So happy you enjoyed the quote. This book is so easily quotable.

That sounds adorable and perfect for when I need something light and silly. Idiot grins are great. Sounds actually like a perfect summer beach read! (perfect timing)

Ohh awesome review Jennifer! This is one book that I’ve been considering reading for AGES but could never decide if I actually wanted to or not lol.
If I ever get through my current TBR pile, I think I’ll give this one a go! I really like your review, even though 3.5 stars isn’t the best rating in the world. You’re making me want to read it anyway! Lol!
Jennifer Bielman
I almost gave it 4 stars but to me 4 stars has to have more interesting things happen. This is just about a couple, and nothing huge happens. Didn’t mean I didn’t like it alot though.

I admit I’ve been avoiding this one because I thought it would be drama filled and angsty. Now I’ve been seeing so many good reviews and I do think yours really made me want to add it. I love something flirty and funny and this really fits the bill. Great review!
Jennifer Bielman
So happy to hear it. I think almost anyone can enjoy this book just don’t expect an epic plot or anything. Just good ol’ fun.

Losing It left me with a huge grin too. Bliss is just so clumsy. This was a perfect summer read. Faking It (book #2) is more serious and lack that humor but it has more complex characters so maybe it will appeal to you more. 🙂
Jennifer Bielman
I don’t mind if book two is serious. I think it will be interesting seeing the different between the two books.
