Summary
Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.

At A Glance
I want to lick this book! Sometimes a book just hits you right and you fall in love. Lick is that kind of book for me.

The Good
Lick started out with a bang! Evelyn wakes up from a drunken night in Vegas, married to a rock star. And she doesn’t remember a thing. Fun, right? And things get even more complicated from there.

Evelyn has a plan. Go to college, become an architect like her dad, and live a normal life. David ruins all that, or maybe he frees her from all that. Evelyn thinks she can just get a annulment and forget the whole drunken marriage thing ever happened, but things don’t go as planned. Evelyn and David have a rocky start. Evelyn thinks David hates her, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. When they finally start talking, they realize that trying to work things about might just be the better answer. I was excited for Evelyn because, come on, is this not a small fantasy we all have? Marrying a guitar God!? I was proud of Evelyn for taking chances. I totally understood her reservations for sticking with David, him being a popular musician and having a mysterious past and all. But you have to take chances, you have to take risks to win in the end. Evelyn embraced her new crazy life as much as she could and just rolled with the punches. But she never let David call all the shots. She was a strong woman who knew what she wanted from a relationship. And she was always did what was best for her in the end.

David was pretty emotional for a guy, but he hid it well. You could tell that Evelyn not remembering their marriage and night of fun really hurt him. He lashes out with sour words and actions, trying to prove Evelyn’s rejection doesn’t affect him. But when Evelyn and David try to work things out, David comes alive. He’s sweet, he’s inspired, he’s excited. And he’s SEDUCTIVE! I think David has been waiting all his life for someone like Evelyn, someone who makes him feel real. David isn’t perfect, he makes mistakes, but he can make one hell of an apology too. David was a total turn on to me. He was so gentle and caring, but he also screamed sex when he put on the moves.

I loved every second of Lick. We got fun, sexy, emotions, and drama. I liked the side characters and their part in the story. Some started off bad but redeemed themselves in the end. That was a nice change up. Lick is the kind of book you can’t stop smiling as you read. I got all giddy as Evelyn and David played house and let the days get away from them. I hope to read more about them in future books.

The Bad
Nothing super exciting happens. Don’t get me wrong, I loved every minute of this story, but after finishing it I thought more could have happened to make things more interesting.

I would have loved to learn more about David and Evelyn. We get some backstory but not enough to leave me 100% satisfied.

The Snuggly
Yummy, yummy hotness! Loving the sexytime in Lick. The hotness level is between new adult and adult with a few sex scenes. David and Evelyn worked well together. They didn’t rush into anything (except for the marriage part, lol). They enjoyed just cuddling or playing around. But when the sex finally came, wowza! It was steamy, fun, and romantic all at once.

Final Thoughts
I am so reading this series for sure. I think Kylie has a way of creating fun characters and giving them emotional but exciting storylines that make these books worth reading. I think many people will love Lick and what it has to offer. Highly recommended.

Quotes
“Love isn’t always smooth or straightforward. It can be messy and painful … Doesn’t mean it isn’t still the most incredible thing that can ever happen to you.”

“Mother of God, it’s huuuuge!” “I know.” “No, seriously.” “I know.” “F*ck me. I think I’m about to pee myself”

“So, come on,” he said softly, taunting me. “What’s the plan here, Ev? How were you going to convince me?”
“Oh. Well, I was um … I was going to seduce you, I guess. And see what happened. Yeah…”
“How? By complaining about me buying you stuff?”
“No. That was just an added bonus. You’re welcome.”
He licked his lips, but I saw the smile. “Right. Come on then, show me your moves.”
“My moves?”
“Your seduction techniques. Come on, time’s a-wasting.” I hesitated and he clicked his tongue, impatient. “I’m only wearing a towel, baby. How hard can this be?”

“Do you actually state what a pain in the ass I am in these songs?”
“Not those words exactly. No.” He chuckled, his good humour returned. “You don’t want me to lie and say everything’s always fucking unicorns and rainbows, do you?”
“Maybe. Yes. People are going to know these are about me. I have a reputation as a constant delight to protect.”

Isn’t it funny how the same tropes done over and over again can still feel fresh in the hands of a talented author? Can’t wait for the next book. I think it’s going to feature Mal so of course I’m all excited.

Lick away! I’m loving the title of this book and the opening sounds like a winner through and through. I’m still not a big fan of rocker romances however it sounds like this is a real winner.
