My name is James Fenici and you will never see me coming. I walk the shadows like darkness itself. I hide in the corners where nobody looks. I live by no rules, I have no boundaries, I take no prisoners, and I never, ever blink. I am not your knight in shining armor; I’m your worst nightmare.

My name is James Fenici and you are my target. Only one of us is getting out alive, and that’s not gonna be you. Once your name is on my list, your life is over. It’s a deal I make with death, it’s a contract I sign in blood, it’s forgone conclusion—get used to it.

My name is James Fenici and I’m as dirty as they come. But then one day I saw her. And every monster I thought I was. Every fact I thought I knew. Every dirty promise I ever turned down came back to slap me in the face.

My name is James Fenici and I think I am in love.

I've been a bad bird. This book may be unsuitable for people under 17 years old due to its use of sexual content, substance use, and/or violence. Come be a bad bird with me!

At A Glance

If not for the length, this book would be rough, raunchy perfection.

The Good

James is a crazy, sexual, alpha assassin. He kills without thought or remorse. His brains works in fascinating ways when it comes to life, death, and sex. He’s been following Harper for months and has decided to finally confront her after his attraction and obsession with her has grown to excruciating levels. That’s when the fireworks start.

Harper is not as innocent as she seems. She is on the run from her past and from people who want to kill her. Her childhood was anything but normal. She has skills and she knows how to use them to stay hidden and to protect herself. But when James comes into the picture, she doesn’t know if she should kill him, fuck him, or run away.

As this story developed, my mind was blown more and more. I love assassin books, and this assassin book has the right amount of weird, rough, and sexy. At first, James completely dominates Harper into submission, but she doesn’t let his hold last long. She has things she needs to do, people to confront, because she is tired of running. She wants to know: did James show up to kill her or fuck her? James plays things close to the vest, but I have a feeling I know some of his secrets already.

I am so excited to see where this story goes. Can’t wait to read the second, full-length novel. I can tell we will be seeing more suspense and more mystery as this messed up romance continues.

The Bad

I did not like the length of the book and how it ended. It stopped right in the middle of the story. I expected way more story than what I got and I felt let down. No, I felt pissed off. This book had a plot of sex and very little else. We only got a taste of the mystery and suspense to come.

The Snuggly

I think this was meant to be new adult but the sex is way to steamy for it not to be erotica. We get the messy, gooey details, peeps! And I loved it. The sex was rough and dominating, just like I like in my books.

Final Thoughts

I am for sure reading book 2. J.A. Huss always writes odd but amazing books, and Come is no different. I think I will feel more satisfied once I get to the full-length novel. Highly recommended.

Quotes

“Once your name is on my list, your life is over. It’s a deal I make with death, it’s a contract I sign in blood, it’s forgone conclusion— get used to it.”

“The night ending with a nice hard and dirty fuck at your place so I can disappear in the middle of the night while you sleep peacefully, content with the multitude of orgasms I gifted you.”

“He tastes like salt and he kisses like the sea. Like a dangerous, killing, unforgiving sea that can do whatever it wants with my body. Toss me, twirl me, take me under and steal the breath right out of me. Make me powerless.
And that’s exactly how I feel.”

“I’m the one who came to her. I’m the one who found her. I’ll be the one to keep her.”

Yeah, I should have bought the other books right away. But I am trying to cut back right now.

Hi Jennifer! Mmmmm… this sounds very yummy. I haven’t read any J.A. Huss. I’ll have to check him/her out. There is just something about hot and sexy bad guys getting their day in the sun with the women of their dreams that I love reading about.

Oh wow, you have to check out Huss. Not the best writing but I LOVE her stories!

At least now, they’re all released ! I’ve got book #1 and haven’t read it (yet !) as usual, but your review has whet my appetite 😉

Huss is so great, I’d read anything by her. I’m never a fan of the novellas either, but I don’t mind them as much when they are setting something up for another book or an in-between in a series. I hope you love the next one!
