A sweet and steamy New Adult Romance from Amazon bestselling author of the Ruthless People series, J.J. McAvoy…

After an erotic one-week fling with a musician she meets in a bar, Thea Cunning never expects to see Levi Black again. Then Monday morning comes around, and she discovers that her former lover is not only her professor, but he’s also one of the top criminal lawyers in the state of Massachusetts.

With everyone in class vying to be one of the twelve disciples—a group of twelve students that Professor Black takes under his wing—tensions run high. Thea considers dropping his class, given their passionate week together and their undeniable chemistry. After all, there are other (less infuriatingly sexy) law professors on campus.

But to accomplish her goal and get her father out of prison, Thea knows she needs to learn under the best of the best—and that’s Levi Black.

But can she learn under the best, without being under the best?

At A Glance

Finally, a book I can feel good about giving 5 stars to.

The Good

I don’t even know what to say. How many ways can I say I love Black Rainbow? I was literally enthralled the whole time.

Thea was an amazing character. She was a great mixture of tough as nails with some vulnerability thrown in. Her past was pretty bad. Ugh, her mother, I can’t even get into that without wanting to punch something. She definitely persevered despite her childhood. I loved her tenacity and snark the most. If not for the drama part, she is a lot like me, which I loved because I am a total narcissist. LOL, Just kidding, well, kinda.

Levi was like the perfect man. Hardcore when it came to his work, but all fun and sexy in the bedroom. I loved that he was lighthearted some times and scary focused other times. He could be a prick but it’s always for a reason. He produces the best lawyers of the whole city because of his assholeness. I respect that. He likes his fun, but he is very logical. I swear, I would totally marry him.

I loved the law aspect. I don’t know how accurate it was but I had fun learning what I did. I loved the side drama with both Levi and Thea, it made the story more real.

The Bad

I do wish Thea wasn’t so wishy-washy with Levi, he didn’t deserve it.

The Snuggly

The sex was hot. Thea and Levi have chemistry up the wazoo. They were perfect for each other.

Final Thoughts

I think most people are going to find it hard to not love this book, or at least like it. It was written well, had great characters, and was entertaining the whole way through.

Quotes

“There are people who are moved by the world, and then there were people who moved the world.”

“Star light, star bright, the many stars I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, keep this girl for the rest of my life”

“I love fall. It’s my favorite season. You have to give it to Mother Nature, even when she’s technically dying, she’s doing it like a true lady and going out with style”

“She paused turning back to me, “You cook too?”
“Yes?”
“Please tell me it’s like, only eggs or something”
“What? No, I can cook”
“Damn it, Levi, I like my men just under perfect, thank you!”
“Would you like me to burn one side of the toast?”
“You’d better” She glared and I kissed her lips quickly”

I don’t know why I hesitated it sounds amazing. So glad to hear you loved it so much. I’ve added to my Amazon watch list and maybe one day it will go one sale. 🙂
