NetGalley November Challenge (And Happy Halloween!)

Posted October 31st, 2013 in Uncategorized / 28 comments

A Day Dreamer’s Thoughts, K-Books and Bookish Treasures are co-hosting a NetGalley November Challenge. I am so behind on my NetGalley and Edelweiss (I am counting my Edelweiss books too for this challenge) books right now. I need to catch up, so this challenge is perfect for me. I am not usually a challenge kind of blogger, but keeping up with NetGalley and Edelweiss books is so important since publishers can see your request/review ratio and they suggest a 80% feedback ratio overall. I hope I can reach my goals and I hope to see a few of you at the finish line.

Here are the details from our hosts:

What is Netgalley November?
The idea is to read as many Netgalley books that month as possible. I, personally, will only be reading Netgalley books but you may feel it better to just read more netgalley books than you normally read in a month. It’s completely up to you!

How does it work?
At the end of this post is a linky list, just add your url to that list and you’ll officially be entered as a participant. I will then e-mail everyone on the list a few days before November to remind you all about the challenge/task you have entered, at which point you can always pull out if you feel you can no longer participate.

Once November begins, I will be posting a goals post and then I will post weekly updates about what books I’ve read, how I’m doing, etc, and will always include a linky for you to add up your own goals and updates – but this is not mandatory! By doing this together, we have the chance to cheer each other on and remind ourselves why bloggers are so freaking awesome!

What else?

I am also hoping to host one or two twitter chats during the event but dates are TBC at the moment! This will be sorted out closer to the date!

Do I need to write a post to sign up?

Definitely not! But, if you wanted to help spread the word by writing an “I’m in” post on your blog, I certainly won’t stop you! And there’s always Facebook and Twitter as well!
And to make things easier for you, here’s the grab code for the button! (if you want it a different size, don’t hesitate to ask!)

 Easy: 1-4
Medium: 5-10
Hard: 11-15
Difficult: 16-20
Netgalley Superstar: 21+

I am going for NetGalley Superstar, so at least 21 books. However, I don’t have 21 days open for November to post reviews, so I will be posting some reviews only on Goodreads and Amazon. Most likely those will consist of the novellas. On December 1st I will post an update with links to all my reviews and I will discuss my experiences and if I reached my goals.

I am super excited for this. I hope this challenge gets me back on track with reading the books I request from NetGalley and Edelwiess. I have an addiction to these sites and I often recommended too many books. I am like a kid in a candy store. But I have been trying to limit myself and I will continue to do so. Wish me luck!

What a fun idea! I’ve already read most of my books on NetGalley so I wouldn’t have really been able to participate in this.

    Thanks for sharing, Jennifer! <33

Awesome! I hope you can accomplish your goal. It’s a high one, but I’m sure you can do it. 😉

I only have 3 unread NetGalley books so I’m doing pretty well. 😛 And one of those I’m currently reading!

OMG, I hate you and your awesomeness!!! I am not even going to tell you guys how many unread books I have. But I can catch up and that’s all that matters.

I am also taking part in NetGalley November! I am excited to finally get around to reading all those book on my NG shelf!. I hope you reach your goal 🙂 Happy Halloween

Yes! I so desperately need to do this too. I’m going to have to go for the easy level, though. NaNoWriMo too, and all that. 🙂

I’ll think about this, this is a perfect challenge for me coz that’s all I read anyways. Let me just think about the weekly update, I might be too lazy to do it 😀

My ratio on NetGalley has dropped to 50% so I need to read my NetGalley books too! I can’t commit to only read NetGalley books, though, in November as I’ve promised to read some others…. BUT I do promise to hit my NetGalley backlog hard! Thanks for the push!

Wow! That’s a ton of Netgalley books for your goal. I’m having such a hard time getting through books at all right now that I haven’t picked up anything new. Good luck!! I hope you had a fantastic Halloween 😀

I’m doing NaNoWriMo so I’ll be watching from the sidelines. You are already a superstar in my eyes, so my fingers are crossed for you. I hope you post a top five of your favorites. Good luck!

  9. Leeanna

I really SHOULD participate in this, because sometimes it’s easy to go crazy when stuff is “Read Now.” But I’m trying to do NaNo this month….argh!

Oh this sounds fun! I wish I would have heard of it sooner. As it were I do not have the time, plus being laptop less and trying to do reviews is not the business 🙁 I hope you reach your goal Jennifer (:
