I do what I want banner

Sometimes I just want to talk about random crap. No theme, no rules, just…whatever. That’s where I Do What I Want posts come in. This is where I…well, do whatever the hell I want. Enjoy…and be very afraid.

Gargoyles

I thought this was the coolest cartoon ever. I thought me watching it made me cool. I mean, GARGOYLES! What’s cooler than that? I loved how dark the atmosphere was and the various stores were pretty complex for being a cartoon. Plus, Goliath was hot.

DuckTales

That greedy bastard! Swimming in his gold. Ugh! And how in the hell do gold coins part like water? Still, DuckTales was an awesome show. I loved the adventures Uncle Scrooge, Huey, Dewey, and Louie went on.

Dinosaurs

Technically not a cartoon but still all sorts of awesome. Baby Sinclair made this show. Who doesn’t remember “Not the mama?” Though the finale sucked buttholes!

Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon was my girly indulgence. I thought the whole show was so pretty and colorful. It was fascinating to watch. Oh, how I wanted to be powerful like these girls.

Pinky and the Brain

One of my all time favorites! This is 100% my favorite cartoon show off all time. I don’t know what it is about them but Pinky and Brain just did it for me. I will never forget the below episode. It straight up made me cry.

It doesn’t show the ending, but Pinky gives Brain a world keychain for Christmas. The Feels!!!

Animaniacs

I actually learned a lot of stuff from Animaniacs. Like the Nations of the World Song. I even have some of it memorized still today. I want to learn the whole song one day.

Rugrats

Who didn’t love Rugrats? OMG, I just realized what Rugrats means! Wow, it took me this long to figure that out. LOL. Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica really made this show so fun to watch. Oh, the trouble they got into.

Doug

Doug was so cool in a dorky way. I honestly don’t remember a lot about this show but I remember loving it. And who didn’t love that he had a blue friend?

Baby Looney Toons

I loved Looney Toons and Baby Looney Toons. They are just too damn adorable. I was obsessed with Tweety Bird as a kid. I had Tweety jewelry, watches, pillows, and other knickknacks. He was my favorite.

Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers

I just realized. Chip ‘n Dale – Chippendales. Bwahahaha. Guess what? I am going to go see a Chippendales show in March. Yay! Okay, off topic.  Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers were badass. I loved adventurous cartoons as a kid. FYI, looking up the shows name results in a lot of cartoon porn. Bleh!

Muppet Babies

I freaking loved the Muppet Babies show intro. I use to sing it all the time. It was pretty catchy. Kermit and Miss Piggy are too precious!

PS: I didn’t mention The Simpsons because that’s still on TV. And I watch that damn show still today. Hardcore fan.

What were some of your favorite childhood cartoons?

Omg, I love Gargoyles and I don’t know why. I used to watch it at my boyfriend’s house in high school. lol. I crack up at Pinky and the Brain, because that’s what people called me ad that same boyfriend. I was Brain. 😀 I watch some of these (Ducktales, C&D, etc) when I was younger, but watch Rugrats an Doug because of my son. Others I watched are She-ra, He-man, Rainbow Brite, My Little Ponies, Inspector Gadget, and a bunch of other 80’s cartoons.

Oh yeah, gotta love Rainbow Brite. LOL, I can’t believe you and your boy toy were called Pinky and the Brain. Hilarious.

  2. chucklesthescot

As a kid I loved The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Chorlton and the Wheelies, Willy Fog, Wacky Races, Rhubard and Custard, Count Duckula, Tiny Toons, The Trapdoor, The New Shmoo, The Wombles, Emu’s World, Roadrunner and Coyote, Hong Kong Phooey, Perils of Penelope Pitstop, Fraggle Rock, gah can’t remember any more!

Loved Roadrunner and the Coyote. Wow, you remembered so much, and a lot of them I never even heard of before. So cool.

  3. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Dude!! We would’ve been besties as kids!! I loved all these shows as well!! So many favorites! I loooved Rugrats! We still have UVerse and every night starting at 9 Teen Nick plays all the 90s shows! It’s always some variety in some bizarre order. I’ve rewatched All That, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Angry Beavers, Doug, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Salute Your Shorts…it’s awesome! Though sometimes they don’t play all my faves when I’m wanting to watch them!

I thought I heard awhile back they were planning to “revamp” the Muppet Babies. Which kind of upsets me. I mean, it was a classic and I imagine them doing terrible things to it! I’m not even sure if they were keeping Skeeter (that was Skooter’s sister’s name right? I know it’s Doug’s best friend too! LOL)

Animaniacs was awesome though! My favorite shorts were always with Mindy and Buttons. How she would always ask Why, why, why, five times before saying okay I love you. Buh bye! LOL!

And ooh Tiny Toons! Did you ever watch that one?! I went so far as to buy a few DVDs of these cartoons. Though all the Nickelodeon shows were super expensive. I just bought an Ahh! Real Monsters one because it was the most reasonable! I have an Animaniacs one too I think! LOL!

Great post! I enjoyed the nostalgia!

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

Oh, I could so go for a revamp of Muppet Babies. But they would HAVE to keep Skeeter. OMG, I totally forgot about Mindy and Buttons doing that. Oh memories. I did watch Tiny Toons, I forgot to mention it.

It’s kind of fun taking a trip down memory lane once in awhile. The really fun thing about having kids is introducing them to all the show and movies you grew up watching and seeing them love them too.

  5. Barb (boxermommyreads)

So many awesome memories. I never got into Gargoyles (probably because we didn’t have cable when I was a young child) however, I need to find some reruns because they are one of my favorite supernatural creatures. I loved Rugrats as well as Dinosaurs. I remember watching that with my Dad and my Mom hated it! Doug is awesome too. I STILL watch some cartoons but primarily Teen Titans (the older ones) and Adventure Time. Great discussion.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

I like to cartoon it up once and a while. I love when they play the classics.

  6. Bookworm Brandee

Ha! I love Animaniacs and Pinky & the Brain – I actually own them all on DVD. Of course, I was watching them in college!! 😉 My favorite cartoon was Looney Toons…that was pretty much it. Oh, there was Scooby-Doo as well. I liked that one too. 😀

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

Wow, I wish I owned some of these on DVD. That would be cool!

  7. Let's Get Beyond Tolerance

I remember Dinosaurs but I can’t remember specific details really. I LOVED Rugrats. That’s one I really need to get on DVD – if I have future children, they must watch this. Oh, Baby Loony Tunes! They are too cute. I also really liked Doug. I love a lot of the 90’s cartoons.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

I love the intro songs to all these. Ducktales is the best!

  8. Nathan

We watched almost all the same cartoons! The only ones i didn’t watch were Baby Looney Toons and Muppet Babies (but i have a comic book of it). I would add Planeteers (I am unsure of the spelling), a cartoon about people with magic rings with one of the five elements of nature saving the planet from greedy people, what is not to love? This post is a trip down memory lane.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

Ooooh, that sounds like a good cartoon, though I never did watch that one.
