I Do What I Want #13: Things You Didn’t Know About Me

I do what I want banner

Sometimes I just want to talk about random crap. No theme, no rules, just…whatever. That’s where I Do What I Want posts come in. This is where I…well, do whatever the hell I want. Enjoy…and be very afraid.

Sooo, I felt like sharing some facts about myself today. Things you might not know about me. I love getting to know about bloggers on a deeper level, so I thought I would return the favor. Enjoy!

1. I Love Working

Now, that’s not to say I loved working at every job I ever had, but I love working in general. I love getting up early, getting out of the house, and being productive by getting things done. It makes me feel accomplished and satisfied. Obviously, it’s more fun when you love the place you work at. But even with the bad ones, I loved talking to new people, making things more effective, or completing big tasks. I’m a worker through and through.

2. I Hate Touching Raw Meat

I just don’t do it. If I didn’t go out to eat or have people cook for me once in a while, I would be a vegetarian just because I hate touching raw meat. It creeps me out. Now, once the meat is on the grill or pan, I’m the fucking expert at cooking it just right. Don’t know how this happened, but I’m seriously the Meat Whisperer…as long as someone puts it on the grill for me. LOL. I think it’s all the cooking shows I watch.

3. I Love Vegetables

Sure, I think most of us started liking vegetables more as we grew older. It’s natural. But I LOVE vegetables. I don’t just steam them though, I make them into gold! Mashed, Parmesan cauliflower, sautéed asparagus and Brussels sprouts, broccoli casserole, the list goes on. If you don’t like vegetables, just have me make them for you. You. Will. Die!!!!

4. I Have OCD When It Comes to My Hands

I think most of you know I’m weird about germs. I get sick so easily so I’m very conscious of the germy things around me. But when it comes to my hands, things get weird. I can literally tell you every single thing my hands touched in the matter of one day. My brain catalogs it all. After so many things I touch, I have to wash my hands because my dirty meter will go off. Yup, this just happened.

5. I Hum and Whistle All The Time

Like, all the freaking time. While I’m at work, in the shower, waiting in line, doing housework… I could go on. I love humming or whistling. Any song will do. I like to sing too but I’m not a good singer so that’s only reserved for when I’m alone.

If you feel up to it, share one thing about yourself I don’t know about.

I love getting to know bloggers better as well so I do appreciate this post! I can’t whistle which makes me so sad sometimes, but I don’t hum too often myself. I am glad you love working! It’s much better to hating it like some people. Oh, and then when we come to the raw meat thing. I actually like touching it ahaha. For some reason it kind of fascinates me. I hope that doesn’t make me sound too creepy.

Bleh! How can you like touching raw meat??? It’s so groooosssss! lol I know a lot of people who can’t whistle. So weird how one person can and another can’t for no reason.

Thanks for sharing more about yourself,Jennifer! I love getting to know other bloggers better, it makes our interactions more fun 🙂
I enjoy working too, and I always have, it’s hard if there’s not a good atmosphere in the workplace, though…
I love vegetables, too, and so do all my kids! I think because they’ve always been used to having vegetables every day, they enjoy that, and they feel put out if for some reason our dinner is served without any.
Have a wonderful Wednesday and happy reading.

I think it’s so important to make veges enjoyable for kids from the get-go.

Loved this post!! I work in a deli at our local grocery store, and I really enjoy this job even though when I started I had no clue as to what I was doing, so I have learned a new skill, and now I have been there almost 2 years and I am closer. I love my shift because the evening shift gets rock n roll and daytime gets country. They have a playlist that just loops, so you get the same songs every so often!! I also love veggies-try spinach balls, they are delicious!!

  4. Manisha

I love posts where we get to know about the blogger!
I love working too. Being productive is the mantra of the day, I just cannot not work when there’s something to be done. I’m not a very good cook but I love cooked vegetables. You sound like a confident cook!
I envy people who can whistle. Sure I can do the basic whistle but I cannot carry a tune to save my life.

    Great post Jen!

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

My whistling is crazy good. Seriously, it’s crazy the things I can do when whistling. I can hum and whistle at the same time. It’s weird.

  5. Braine

Thanks for sharing and that gif is hilarious!

I love to cook. I suck at baking. I love working out but love eating more. I sing all the time like some waking karaoke. And I love a purpose driven day be it working or doing errands or chores, just waking up with a goal in mind is a good thing

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

I love baking, cooking is the harder one for me. Goals make me feel good, especially when I complete them.

I’m highly disturbed by that Miley gif. I think I need to bleach my eyes now.

I’m a pescetarian (Altho I only eat fish occasionally). I decided to try and convert over to a vegetarian lifestyle a year and a half ago but living right near the ocean, I just couldn’t give up fish. It was only supposed to be for a year but it sort of stuck.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

I can’t get that GIF out of my mind. So creepy. I would love to be a vegetarian but it’s so hard for me to stop eating meat. I hate myself sometimes.

  7. Jaclyn Canada

I enjoyed this 😀 I’m with you on loving to work. I enjoy feeling useful and productive during a day though I don’t mind taking days off at all! I can’t stand touching raw meat either, but I’m not a big vegetable fan. Sounds like I need you to whip me up a yummy dish. Asparagus is about all I actually enjoy. Well other than potatoes, but they are horrible for you. Here’s something from me: I have misophonia. It’s when your body has a negative reaction to certain repetitive noises. So, I can’t handle humming LOL. It raises my blood pressure something fierce. Though I do sing all the time whether I’m good or not 😀

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

True, I live for my weekends! Work is sooo tiring. OMG, I totally know about misophonia. I looked it up because I hate certain repetitive noises as well. Like people smacking gum, eating loudly, people picking at their nails. it drives me crazy if they keep doing it over and over!

This is a good post, it is I like to get to know the people I am blogging with better. It is good to want to be productive, whether at school or work. I like vegetables too, we get some from the local farms. Fresh produce lasts longer and we know they didn’t use pesticides on it. I don’t eat red meat. I have always been this way. That gif is a little disturbing. I totally understand your hand OCD. I have told you I have epilepsy, well I also have a little OCD, too. Some things can set of my ick meter and I need to clean.
I sometimes sing quietly to myself; I don’t think I have the best voice or anything.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

So jealous that you eat locally farmed veges with no pesticides. That’s the way we all need to do it.

  9. Lekeisha

Don’t feel bad about any OCD tendencies that you have. Mine are rather bizarre, and I’m embarrassed to list them all. I’ll go with the least embarrassing; I have to have all linen folded to perfection, or I’ll start over. That’s why I don’t trust my boyfriend to fold a darn thing. And I have to have a clean kitchen to cook in. That means, not one dirty dish in the sink. I clean as I mess them up.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

I am the totally opposite with the bed, lol. I like my deb messy and unmade. I feel constricted when my bed is made.

  10. ShootingStarsMag

I love these types of posts! It really is fun getting to know bloggers on a more personal level, especially if they have book blogs or something and don’t talk about themselves often.

You seriously need to come and make me vegetables, because I don’t like that many and I WISH I did.

One thing people don’t know about me: If I use the restroom in public, I always check the bottom of each of my shoes before I leave in case there is toilet paper or something on them. Just one of my OCD tendencies. 🙂

That is a very disturbing picture of the chicken. I love when bloggers share more about themselves. I have this weird thing about mixing my peanut butter and jelly before putting it on my bread when I make my sandwich. Plus, I have to milk with it, but I don’t think that is weird.

  12. Melissa (My World...in words and pages)

Oh my god! You made me bust out laughing with Miley! LOL! That was so good.

  13. Christy LoveOfBooks

I love veggies too. And fruit. I always have. That’s funny about the meat. I’m fine with most of it, but messing with a whole chicken or turkey kind of grosses me out if I start thinking about what it truly is. lol. And now after that gif … I may be traumatized.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

Steak is bad enough but having to deal with a whole chicken, no thank you!! We are all traumatized by the GIF, suck it up! LOL
