A thrilling, futuristic sci-fi novel set in a unique and thought-provoking world, from author Shannon Duffy.
Desiree Six (because she was born on a Friday) believes in everything the Protectorate stands for. She likes the safety and security of having her entire life planned out—her career, her mate, even the date of her death. She doesn't even think to question when Darien, her childhood friend and neighbor, is convicted of murdering his parents. They had seemed like such a loving family. But if he was convicted, then he must have done it.
Then Darien shows up in her room late one night. He has escaped from the Terrorscape—a nightmare machine used to punish all Noncompliants—and needs Desiree's help. What he tells her rocks her world to its core and makes her doubt everything she's ever been told. With this new information, will Desiree and Darien be able to escape the Protectorate before it's too late?

In Awakening, the Terrorscape is all about being forced to live through your worst nightmare. Top ten things that scare me the most:
1. Clowns. I’m definitely with Desiree and saying creepy clowns.
2. Being trapped in a burning building.
3. Drowning.
4. Flesh eating zombies—cause they’re real, right?
5. Large spiders and snakes.
6. Being locked in the dark alone and not knowing where I am.
7. Evil ghosts.
8. Being lost and alone in a creepy corn maze.
9. Being buried alive.
10. Being stranded in the ocean and a shark is swimming close by.
What freaks you out the most? Biggest fear? Do you think you could survive 7 days in the Terrorscape? Take the quiz and find out.

I think I can honestly say yes to all of these except for the zombies, for some reason they just never have scared me!
Fun guest post, I loved it!

Seriously? Zombie scare the crap out of me. lol.

I have nightmares of becoming stuck in a window, narrow hallway, a crack in the wall. The list goes on forever. A sure reflection of all the weight I’ve gained as I’ve gotten older. 🙁

Awwww. I can never fly in my dreams because I am too fat.

i can relate to that. I am mortified of snakes to the point that I dream of them when I see one on TV. It’s that bad. I’m also afraid of heights.
Jennifer Bielman
Snakes are a bad one for me. I had on bite me before.

I’m afraid of many of the same things. Claustrophobia and being thirsty without any water are two of my big ones! Then there is afraid of the old Incredible Hulk that used to be on TV in the 80’s and definitely being buried alive! BTW the book looks great! It’s in my TBR list 🙂
Jennifer Bielman
Wow, I like how specific your are. I never thought of the water one.

I can pretty much relate to all of these but zombies is my biggest NO NO. I mean, they don’t scare me but they definitely give me the creep. Major creeps.
Jennifer Bielman
Zombies creep me out!

This seems like a really interesting book. I’m right up there with Shannon on all 10 fears. Great guest post!
Jennifer Bielman
I think a lot of us are. lol
Alreem
wow scary list but I guess people need to face thier fear so they can overcome it 🙂
Jennifer Bielman
I agree. That’s what I did.

I refuse to be afraid of anything. I like to be in control of my fear and emotions. However, when you have child, it’s impossible not to feel some fear for their safety and life in general. I just don’t want anything to ever happen to him.
This looks like a pretty interesting book.
Jennifer Bielman
For sure. I think moms tend to lose some of their fear for other things and save it for their children.

This book sounds really interesting! And so is the guest post because:
1.) Clowns are on the fine line between annoying and creepy for me,
2.) I’ve experienced watching our neighbor’s house (the one right beside ours) burn, and it was scary as crap,
3.) I can’t swim,
6.) I’m scared of the dark even if I know where I am,
7.) Ghosts are my worst nightmare. Like literally, I imagine them before I go to bed and dream about them. >_<
Jennifer Bielman
Thinking about ghost can really get me scared while I ma trying to sleep.
Melliane
Ah yes I agree as well with what scares you, it’s quite the same for me too.
Jennifer Bielman
Same here.

Um…yes this is a pretty great list of fears. I’d have to put spiders at the top. I’m allergic and the little creepies incredibly freak me out. Apparently, I have an allergy to any insect with venom but they freak me out the most.
Jennifer Bielman
OMG, that’s horrible. And it’s hard not to get bite by a spider at least a couple times in your life.
shaunie
Love your top ten; I can relate to number two plus with someone that really annoys you., that equals my worst nightmare
Jennifer Bielman
Snakes would do me in.
