Can one girl take on so many identities without losing her own? Find out in this riveting companion to The Program and the New York Times bestselling The Treatment.
In a world before The Program.
Quinlan McKee is a closer. Since the age of seven, Quinn has held the responsibility of providing closure to grieving families with a special skill she can become anyone.
Recommended by grief counselors, Quinn is hired by families to take on the short-term role of a deceased loved one between the ages of fifteen and twenty. She's not an exact copy, of course, but she wears their clothes and changes her hair, studies them through pictures and videos, and soon, Quinn can act like them, smell like them, and be them for all intents and purposes. But to do her job successfully, she can't get attached.
Now seventeen, Quinn is deft at recreating herself, sometimes confusing her own past with those of the people she's portrayed. When she's given her longest assignment, playing the role of Catalina Barnes, Quinn begins to bond with the deceased girl's boyfriend. But that's only the beginning of the complications, especially when Quinn finds out the truth about Catalina's death. And the epidemic it could start.

The Challenges of Writing The Remedy
by Suzanne Young
I think the biggest challenge with writing THE REMEDY was how to write a prequel that didn’t depend on THE PROGRAM for the storyline. I was determined that this would be a duology all its own (It is. THE EPIDEMIC comes out Spring 16).
I had the idea for closers first, and began obsessing about a girl who falls for a dead girl’s boyfriend while pretending to be said dead girl. But then, a few chapters in, I met Deacon and he added a whole new layer to the story, one that will play a big part in the next book. I’m incredibly excited to tell the rest of this story.
THE REMEDY has a few minor characters from THE PROGRAM, but you don’t need to know anything about the other books. It all starts here. And to write this story out of order was challenging, but ultimately, THE REMEDY is my favorite of the series.

I have yet to read the first book. Which, is so sad really. I think when this series started, I was caught up in historical fiction and didn’t want to switch up.

Yeah, it took me awhile to want to read dystopian again when I got tired of it a but back.

there IS a method to the madness here. I love it when authors talk about their characters as if they don’t live in their heads.
Jennifer Bielman
Seriously, characters become real as you write them. it’s crazy

I haven’t read The Program yet. The idea of a girl pretending to be a dead girl and falling for her boyfriend though is quite messed up. Should definitely make an interesting story! Thanks so much for sharing 😀
Jennifer Bielman
LOL, yeah, messed up but entertaining.

I love a series where each book could be a stand-alone. I don’t always start at the beginning. 🙂

I have been wanting to read this series forever. It is amazing that you wrote a prequel that I will have no problem reading first. Some prequels no matter what I read them after the first book. I feel that most prequels are designed that way. Thanks for the chance to win.
Jennifer Bielman
Good luck!
