SummaryDetermined to overcome a dark and tragic past, college student Everly Wallace is only months away from earning her degree in physical therapy. She’s consumed with school, caring for her ailing grandfather, and figuring out how to pay the next bill. The last thing she wants is a relationship, but it just might be the one thing she needs.
Major League pitcher Cole Parker hasn’t fought for anything in his life. He went from a privileged upbringing to a multimillion dollar All-Star career. But when his pitching shoulder starts to give him trouble at only twenty-four years old, he faces the possibility of his injury becoming public knowledge and costing him everything.
In a desperate bid to save his career, Cole decides to hire someone to treat his injury, someone who will keep things off the record and out of the media. He finds the perfect solution in Everly. As mysterious as she is beautiful, she provides an enticing distraction from his pain. Soon, physical therapy is the last thing on his mind.
When an act of betrayal brings the truths they both fear to light, Cole will have to fight for the first time in his life…not just for his career, but for Everly’s love.
Check out the interview the author had with herself:
Do you remember how/when your interest in writing started?
I remember exactly when it started. I was in the fourth grade and I wrote a book called The Dancing Spider. I even cut the cover and paper upon which I wrote the story into the shape of a ballet slipper. The story made it into a state literary competition and took an Honorable Mention. After that, I was hooked!
What were the challenges (research, psychological, and logistical) in bringing this series or characters to life?
Because the story features a physical therapy student and a professional baseball player, I made sure to do extensive research before writing it. I looked up all of the requirements for Everly’s particular degree program, keeping the class schedule up on my web browser as I wrote. I interviewed a cousin of mine who has her doctorate in physical therapy to make sure I knew what sort of treatment Everly would provide, and I researched the proper equipment she’d use outside of a facility. Lastly, I interviewed a retired pro ballplayer to make sure the details about Cole’s contract and player obligations were all realistic. It took longer to research everything than to write the story!
What was the easiest part of writing For Everly?
Writing the story itself was easy for me. I finished it in six weeks, and that was while working my full-time job as a wedding planner and spending time with my husband and daughter. It just flowed!
What is your favorite scene or was your favorite to write?Don’t forget to tell us why.
My favorite scene is one near the beginning where Everly meets Cole for lunch to discuss his injury. She’s a nervous wreck and ends up accidentally kissing him. That wasn’t scripted…the characters did it of their own accord!
What’s next for you writing wise that you can share with us?
I’ve just finished my next New Adult Contemporary Romance, Meant for Her. Everly and Cole do make appearances, though both novels are standalones. Meant for Her will be released on October 17th by Iambe Books, LLC.
