YOU FLIRT WITH FIRE...For Aoife Dakar, seeing is believing-and she's seen some extraordinary things. It's too bad no one else believes that she witnessed a supernatural murder at an outdoor fair. Returning to the scene for proof, Aoife encounters a wise-cracking demon dog-and a gloriously naked man who can shift into a dragon and kiss like a god. Now thrust into a fantastical world that's both exhilarating and terrifying, Aoife is about to learn just how hot a dragon's fire burns.
WHEN YOU DATE A DRAGON...Kostya has no time for a human woman with endless questions, no matter how gorgeous or tempting she is. He must break the curse that has splintered the dragon clans before more of his kind die. But his powerful attraction to Aoife runs much deeper than the physical-and there may be more to her than even his sharp dragon eyes can see. To survive the coming battle for the fate of his race, he needs a mate of true heart and soul . . .

At A Glance

Started out great, then bleh.

The Good

Dragonshifters!!!! I loved how Dragon Fall started. Aoife witnesses  a dragonshifter fight and possible murder. So she does what any sane person would, she calls the cops. Then gets thrown in the loony bin for her trouble. For TWO YEARS! Man, I would be pissed! When she gets out, all she wants to do is live a normal life, except the damn dragons show up again!

I really felt bad for Aoife. It’s so not fair all the crap she goes through. She gets dragged into dragonshifter politics and a world she never knew existed. She handles everything pretty well though. Aoife was a fun, goofy character that helped me follow the story easily. Kostya was accidentally hilarious because he didn’t understand a lot of human phrases or customs so it made for a good time. He had his endearing moments.

The Bad

Despite the few smiles this book gave me, it was really hard for me to finish. It was slow in a lot of parts and the plot dragged on and on. Aoife had this odd way of cussing with silly phrases and it irritated the crap out of me. I mean, I want to bang my head against the wall kind of irritated. It just didn’t feel natural.

Aoife and Kostya were tolerable sometimes, but for the most part I couldn’t stand them. Aoife was too childish and Kostya was like watching white paint dry. They had no chemistry and I didn’t want to root for them as a couple at all.

The ending was completely open-ended. The couple gets a wrap-up but the story gets no conclusion at all. I turned the last page and thought, “What was the point to all that shit?”

The Snuggly

I didn’t even care about the sex. I know, I know, shocking.

Final Thoughts

It was not for me. I only gave it 2 stars because I would say the first quarter was pretty entertaining. But it went downhill from there. Not recommended.

It is so hard to love or even like a story when you can’t care about anything because the pacing is so slow and the conversation bizarre.
Sorry this wasn’t a better read for you. Wonderful honest review though, I can tell you really wanted to like this but just couldn’t get into it. Kudos to you for finishing it.

Sorry it did not work for you.
I haven’t read this one yet, but the author has lots of dragon books (all divided in color of dragons) and Kostya was introduced in several other books. The author likes to leave open ended books as all her dragon books are somehow related and you get to know what happened to the heroe/heroine from this book in the next and so on 🙂
Don’t give up on the author if you ever see another book from her 🙂 She also writes about Dark Ones, I mean Vampires 🙂

Oh man. Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy this one as much as you thought you would. I love dragon-shifters but I can’t stand it when a book slows down and starts to bore me. There’s nothing worse than reading a book where you don’t care about the characters. :\ Hopefully the next book is better.

Yikes! Definitely not one I’m adding to my to-read list. I love some dragons too, so that’s a huge bummer. It gets on my nerves when characters have odd phrases they say all the time too.

I like when character are different and interesting but the repetitiveness of the same phrases or words is too much.

Yeah, I am hearing the open-ended part is normal. too bad I don’t want to continue the series.

On Goodreads it says it’s book #1. For the Black Dragon series. So does Amazon. Now I am confused! lol

            • Jennifer Bielman

Wow, well I wish I would have known that. But still, not sure if it would have made the book too much better.

Maybe not. I enjoyed this one. Wasn’t my all time favorite but one of my favorite things about it was seeing old characters like Jim and just being back in the world. Had more of that connection since I knew them. But she’s also not the author for everyone I’ve found. It is a shame they didn’t make that connection better known that it was connected to all those others. That’s always good info to have going in.

                • Jennifer Bielman

Yeah, I would have liked to have known about the connect first because then I would have understood why it felt like I stepped into the middle of a story.

Oh I’m sorry you didn’t like it, I don’t think I saw the samething because I really enjoyed it but I hope your next book will be better

So happy to hear you loved it. I like when people enjoy the books I don’t. Makes me feel less bad, lol.
