Welcome to Bookish Blatherings, a Bad Bird Reads feature where I ramble about bookish or bloggerish things and hopefully you will join in on the discussion.

For some reason I seriously procrastinate on some series. I love them but I just don’t continue them for one reason or another. I have more than this list, but I’m going to share my top 5 series I’ve been thinking about lately. I really need to get my ass in gear and start reading them again.

5. The Remnant Chronicles

I loved the first book, The Kiss of Deception, but I have yet to read the rest of the series. I keep saying I’m going to buy The Heart of Betrayal, book 2, but nope. The way the first book ended, I am dying to see what happens next.

4. Outlander Series

I am obsessed with Outlander. I read the book first and I also watch the TV show. It’s the best historical romance I have ever read. For some reason I have not committed to the next book, Dragonfly in Amber, or the rest of the series for that matter. I guess I am afraid that I loved the first book so much that the second can’t possibly be as good. I do own the book though. 🙂

3. The Lunar Chronicles

Here’s the thing, Cinder was just okay for me. I was not blown away by it, but I have always wanted to see what the whole series has to offer because sooooo many people love it. I actually own Scarlet, the second book in the series, and plan to read it one day. I just don’t know when that day will be.

2. Mercy Thompson Series

This is one of my first series I read when I first started blogging. Moon Called was one of my first urban fantasy books as well. Obviously, I fell in love right away. But for some reason I stopped at book 6, River Marked. Well, to be honest, that book fell short for me. But I know this series picks right back up with book 7, Frost Burned. Now just have to buy it.

1. The Hollows

No doubt this is one of my favorite series of all time. I started The Hollows series when I started the Mercy Thompson series. My procrastination for this one is different. I don’t want to finish this one because I don’t want it to all end. Dead Witch Walking was so amazing and the rest of the series followed suit. I have read the first chapter of The Undead Pool, book 12, but stopped because I’m still sad that it’s all over. So I have two more books to finish this series and who knows when I will get to them.

What series are you procrastinating on? Why did you stop reading that series and will you get back to it one day?

Haha! It looks like you and I are similar in this matter. I haven’t read Heart of Betrayal (It’s been on my shelf since December), I started Outlander but haven’t picked it back up (I love the show as well), I stopped at the second Mercy Thompson book even though I really enjoyed them (I do plan to continue), and I need to start back on TLC. I enjoyed Cinder, but Scarlet has sat unread on my shelf for years. Hopefully we both get to all of these one day.

Three out of the five are series I will grab when they come my way, but I don’t actively pursue them. Since blogging…I grab so many freebie and have books I’ve won, so I get lost in the ‘stacks’. LOL

I’m also procrastinating the Lunar Chronicles. I loved the first three and the novella Fairest but I love the series so much I don’t want it to end when I read Winter D: I procrastinate too. I’m also doing the same for Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. I even stopped halfway through the second book xD

I do tend to stop reading near the end of a series because I don’t want it to end.

  4. Christy LoveOfBooks

Oh my freaking A. Finish The Hollows already!! I need to read the 3rd Mercy book, but I only started the series this year. Yeah, I’ve owned Amber in Dragonfly for years, but never got around to reading it. Love the show, though.

  5. Braine

We’re on the same page with MMeyer’s series, I have yet to follow up with the series.

My series that I need to keep reading are:
    Charley Davidson
    Parasol Protectorate
    Kate Daniels

    And a lot more.

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

OMG, Kate Daniels!!!!!!!! So good. There too I am one book behind, and it’s my fav series of all time. *sighs*

  6. Melissa (Books and Things)

We have some of the same series that I need to get to as well. Oh I didn’t love Dragonfly in Amber near as much as the first, but I’ve been promised that the next book is really good. I am trying to read one book ahead of the series. 🙂 They are just in production now for the next book.

  7. Nathan

There are just so many books to read and only so much time to read them.
Some series I am procrastinating with are:
The Dark Elite by Chloe Neil (I will get to it as soon as I start my next course after my exam, it just doesn’t work with school stress).
The Succubus series by R Mead
    The Noon Onyx series.
I mean to get back to all of them eventually.

I was like that with the Patricia Briggs one as well and at River Marked though I liked that one. I managed to get caught up this year. Feels good! I did the audio books to get caught up and they were good. Now it’s the Ilona Andrews one. I’m behind. Boo!

    • Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

I know, I am one book behind with Ilona Andrews but I didn’t want to admit it, lol.
