Welcome to Bookish Blatherings, a Bad Bird Reads feature where I ramble about bookish or bloggerish things and hopefully you will join in on the discussion.
I have to admit, I don’t have a lot of time to stalk very many authors. I only follow a few through various methods of social media. But there are a couple that I HAVE to keep up with because they are fucking awesome! Like, the best thing since sliced bread (fun fact: Betty White is older than sliced bread! For reals.). These authors just do it for me in everyway. These are my top 3 author crushes:
3. John Green
I haven’t even read a book by John Green yet (don’t judge, he makes people cry, I hate crying!) but I can still enjoy this man’s hilarious genius. This guy always knows the right things to say in an interviews and he posts laugh-worthy and thought-provoking videos on YouTube. He really is a great guy all around. And cute. And he wears classes. OMG, nerdgasm activate! He would make a perfect partner.
2. Tahereh Mafi
She is 100% the funniest author I have ever met. I have met her twice at book signings. Both times she made the room roar in laughter. She is smart as a whip. She wears the tallest platform shoes I have ever seen. And her style is banging! Her husband, Ransom, also a writer, is just as funny as her. I could see myself having so much fun hanging out with these two. You have to check them out on YouTube or Twitter.
1. Ilona Andrews
Ilona and Gordon are a married writing team. They are my favorite authors of all time! I met them one time and they are amazing together. I laughed and I almost cried. You can feel the passion oozing from them when talking about their writing. My favorite way of following them is their Blog and Twitter. They talk about everything you wished an author would talk about: Tips on writing, sneak peaks of their books, and a lot about their personal lives, surprisingly. I feel like I know them. I know, I am a total stalker. I wish I could just be in their house for one day and watch the genius flow free. Ilona and Gordon, will you adopt me?
Who are your favorite authors you like to stalk online because of their humor, intelligence, or so on? These are the authors you like as people, not just because of their writing.

I totally stalk John Green. LOL! I’ve read all except one book of his (solo). I’ve not read his works with other authors yet. My number 2 is Rainbow Rowell. I just love her to pieces! I’ve have read every book of hers and she has a special space on my shelf for future releases. 3 is Eric Jerome Dickey. I stalk that man on Twitter and FB. He’s a great writer and his tweets are hilarious sometimes. I’ve only read about 5 of his books, but I have them all on my shelf. Maybe I’ll pick one up soon. There are others, but those are my favs. George R.R. Martin is one of my favs that I stalk as well.

Wow, I am going to have to try stalking a couple of these authors!

Yes to all of these. I love their work as well and it is fun to see interviews and posts by then.
I also really love Kristin Higgins, she has some of the funnies blog posts and FB posts. She always makes me laugh.
Jennifer Bielman
She sounds great! I am all about the laughs from authors.
Christy
Okay, Pierce Brown and Josh Malerman are two I want to have my wicked ways with, because I’m in love with their books and they’re both fucking hot. Now, Kevin Hearne and the Andrews are authors I crush on because I want to live in their heads with their characters … and they’re freaking funny.
Jennifer Bielman
Looking up Pierce Brown and Josh Malerman right now, so I can mind-fondle them!
Melissa (Books and Things)
I have seen Tahereh Mafi’s shoes and I love them. I couldn’t wear them, but I love them on her! 😀
Totally get the stalking on the Andrews couple. They don’t need to adopt me, just make Curran real for me… 😉 LOL
Jennifer Bielman
I would so break an ankle in her shoes.
Sorry, Curran will only be make real for ME!!

my son is a huge fan of Hank and John Green. I used to follow Rihannon Frater’s blog, I haven’t read her books but I love reading her posts and watching her videos… hmmm… I never really stopped, it’s just that I used to track her via Google Reader. That said, I should start stalking her again
Jennifer Bielman
Fraters books are pretty awesome, I can attest.
Nathan
For humor I really like Richelle Mead, her humor both on her website and her books is outrageous. I am a big fan of Chloe Neil, and I also like the work of P.C. Cast and her daughter with the House of Night series. Speaking of which I really need to catch up my reading.
Jennifer Bielman
Neil is pretty awesome. she would have been my forth pick.
Melliane
AH yes I love Ilona Andrews but I confess that I haven’t read the others… She is the one I try to keep up with.
Jennifer Bielman
She is my number one to keep up with.
Jaclyn Canada
I completely get that about John Green. I haven’t read anything by him either. While I have authors that I automatically buy because I love them so much, the ones I follow are a bit different. I love to read Kim Harrison’s blog where she keeps everything up to date on releases and writes personal posts about her life. More than that, she has a question and answer section for those die-hard fans wanting to know more and she answers them all without getting too spoilery! I also love following Julie Kagawa on twitter. She’s a lot of fun and always posting her dragon figurines when new ones are available.
Jennifer Bielman
Really? Wow, I am surprised I don’t follow Harrison like I should sine I love her books as you know.
Melissa (My World...in words and pages)
The first two I don’t follow. But I do follow Ilona. Great idea for post!
Jennifer Bielman
🙂 Ilona is the best!
