Skylla only knows that she has been kidnapped and held prisoner by the foreign invaders and their human allies. And that the world is ending. Or so the humans think. The invaders have made it clear that their arrival is one of hostile intent, and as their takeover spreads, so does the panic across the globe. No one knows how to defeat them, or if it’s even sane to try.
For many writers, myself included, music plays a massive role in the writing process. I need music before and while I write. Music inspires all of my storytelling, so I always make a playlist for each of my books to share with readers. Here’s a list of the songs that inspired the first book in my New Adult science fiction series, The Keepers Trilogy. Happy listening!

Great Playlist. Some of those songs go way back for me. Evanescence, Tool, Cold Play. Aaah, Krewella—I love those 3! And Adele has a voice on her that can bring me to tears. I LOVE TITANIUM…tried singing it for karaoke and, well, um, I can’t hit ANY of those notes. LOL
Lately, I’ve cued up some Smashing Pumpkins (Today), Bush (Glycerine) and the old No Doubt (Don’t Speak, Cool).
My true love will always be EDM though…depending on my mood and where I’m at with my writing, I love trance/progressive breaks, chill out house, and liquid dubstep. I downloaded DI Radio (digitally imported) app for free and they offer the widest range of continuous mixed EDM I’ve found so far. My fave stations on DI are: Classic Vocal Trance, Breaks, Liquid Dubstep, and Vocal Trance 🙂
Jennifer Bielman
Oh yes, Bush. Love them. And old No Doubt is always awesome. EDM is new to me.
I am all about Imagine Dragons right now. Like obsessed. Rihanna too.
Ashley Robertson
OOOOH, I love Rihanna 🙂

Whew! Love the cover, and what a concept! I recognized a couple of those songs from one of my playlists. Ooh… Great writers listen alike? (I hope.) 😉
Jennifer Bielman
Hehe, awesome. I do feel like there are certain songs that many writers seem to use on their playlists.

I love Florence and the Machine and Adele. This is a great list. A lot of great songs here. Thank you so much for sharing. Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.

Adele has the best voice. Florence never really got me. Her voice annoys me.
Elisa
great list, I am going to come back to listen to them all. Get me off my Alt-j & Vampire Weekend kick. 🙂
NA science fiction?! – awesome, gotta check that one out.
Jennifer Bielman
Love me some Vamp Weekend.

I fell in love with Hearing Damage when it was on one of the Twilight soundtracks. It’s a fabulous song and my favorite from this list, although there are so many good ones!!
Jennifer Bielman
I agree. The Twilight soundtrack was so amazing.
