“So do you even really like him? Is that the issue? Do you not find him attractive? Does he have hideous breath? Is he a bad kisser?”
“Oh, God, no, that’s not it. Marie, I want to get him alone and do things to him! You’ve no idea.” My voice is a low, sexual growl.
Marie snorts and chokes on her drink. “Who the hell are you? I like you, Sex Kitten Elle! You can stay.”
Dominic bends and scoops the cat up. “This is Grawlix.”
“That sounds familiar, but I can’t think why.”
“Grawlix are the symbols, like exclamation mark, star, dollar sign, used to replace swears when you’re writing.”
“Ah yes. Why’d you name him Grawlix?”
“Because he’s kind of an asshole.”
“Dominic, if you aren’t careful, these books are going to see more action than they’d planned on.”
He laughs, and continues kissing and nuzzling my neck, running his hands across my lower back. “I’d love nothing more than to knock some of these books off the shelves with you.”
My inner librarian disapproves. She can go to hell.
“Words haven’t been invented yet for how that song made me feel.”
“Yeah?”
“I had no idea you could play like that. You’re amazing.”
“And on that day, his ego grew three sizes,” he jokes.
“I mean it. And that song was gorgeous. It was just everything. What’s it called?”
“Elle.”
“What? I want to know what the song is called.”
“No. The song is called Elle.”
“Like my name!”
“Like you.” He bites his lip. “I wrote it for you.”
“You wrote that?”
“Yes.”
“For me?”
“Yes.”
Tamara Mataya is currently a librarian; she lurked there for so long recommending books to patrons and shushing people, that she suspects they only hired her so it would be less creepy. Now she’s armed with a name tag, and a thin veneer of credibility. She’s also a musician with synaesthesia – which isn’t an issue until someone plays a wrong note, which makes her want to squirm inside out. It makes for a good live show. Blog | Twitter | Facebook

This sure does sound like an interesting story. What with her having synesthesia and all as well. And the torn love triangle sounds like a nice one 😉 My kind of romance book…
